The Trials of Odysseus of Homers Odyssey Essays -- Odyssey essays

The Trials of Odysseus Homers epic poem The Odyssey was written after his Iliad which told the tales of the Trojan War. This Odyssey told of the wanderings of a prominent warrior and ruler, Odysseus. Odysseus fought in the Trojan War and, after the Greeks claimed their triumph at Troy, began his prolonged journey home. During his travels Odysseus faced many obstacles which he had to overcome. Through his wanderings, Odysseus had to prove his valor, intellect, and determination. Incorporated into The Odyssey are many current-day characteristics of man including a constant dependence on others, the presence of a greater vision, or deficiency there of, and the essence of a sensitive side behind courage and pride. At measure throughout The Odyssey Odysseus didnt think about the consequences of his actions and depended on guidance from the gods to help lead him in the right direction. Odysseus was quick to take action and occasionally made pathetic decisions that were bound to harm hi m. Odysseus was eager to fight, even if he had little chance of survival. His impulsiveness resulted in Athena coming down from Mount Olympus to warn him saying reckless man Still bent on war and struggle Will you not even yield to divinity gods? This is no mortal being, but an immortal woe, -dire, hard, and fierce, and not to be fought down. Courage is nothing flight is best (116). Odysseus didnt know when to run and leave a situation and when to face and fight. He believed that his courage would realize him through to victory, even against a goddess. Without Athenas wisdom, Odysseus was sure to meet his doom because there was no way that he could defeat the goddess Charybdis. Odysseus not only depended on immortals to liquidate him out of a mess, b... .... He felt comfortable showing this side because he knew that she wouldnt laugh at him, but would be understanding because she felt the identical as he did they both longed for each other. The Odyssey involved many current-d ay characteristics of man including a dependence on others, the existence of a greater vision, or lack of it, and asensitive side found behind courage and pride. Today people still face these problems and must work to overcome them. Man must learn to win on his own determination and strengths instead of others. Man must also learn to see a greater vision and look at the unfit picture rather than the moment. Lastly, man must decide with whom he wants to share his feelings of fear, love, and despair so he can experience a greater fulfilment in life. Works CitedHomer. The Odyssey. Trans. Robert Fitzgerald. Scheele and Oxygen :: essays research papers

OxygenVital to life, a necessity to combustion, and the component of innumerable compounds, oxygen is by far one of the most substantial elements. Astoundingly, Oxygen makes up a fifth of our atmosphere, 49.5% of all compounds on Earth contain oxygen, makes up about 2/3 of our body, yet human grade has only know of it since 1977 (http//pearl1.lanl.gov/periodic/elements/8.html). Ironically, within a period of a couple of years, three different men had stumbled upon the vital element. Carl Wilhelm Scheele, a Swede, made the initial discovery. However, Joseph Priestly, the man generally attributed with the discovery on the basis of his works being published first, discovered it in 1774. Neither of them quite understood it though, and only a French man by the name of Antoine Lavoisier who would be the first to fully understand it and disprove the old phlogiston? notion (Priestly Joseph 4). Nonetheless, Carl Wilhelm Scheele was still the first to discover oxygen, a discovery that would be one of many in a rich life. William Scheeles life was one of humble beginnings. Born on December 19, 1742 he was one of a pack of 11 children. His formal training or education in science was of the bare minimum. Explore how Jane Austen presents the themes of love and marriage in volume 1 of Pride and Prejudice Essay

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife. The novel begins with a satirical quote, representing many peoples opinions on cognize and marriage at the time of writing. To many, marriage was a way of bettering themselves socially and economically, merely seldom for happiness and love. Throughout the novel there are numerous and frequent references to this way of thinking, and Austen makes sections who think of love and marriage in this way appear ridiculous. One character made to look absurd is Mrs. Bennet. Most find her intolerable, and even her own daughters and husband are humiliated by her regularly. In chapter one she says, A single man of large fortune What a fine thing for our girls Nothing of Mr. Bingleys character is mentioned, but the concomitant that he is wealthy seems reason enough for Mrs. Bennet to approve of him.As will be future explored, Mrs. Bennet is derided throughout the novel, clearly present that Austen herself does not approve of her way of thinking, as it is centred around the material rather than being centred around love or moral reasons.Despite being beneath constant pressure from her mother, delinquent to the details of the entailment on the Bennets estate, Jane Bennet desires to marry for love, and eventually does so.The ever-important matter of money, however, does lie at the back of her mind. In chapter four, Elizabeth says, I give you leave to like him. You have liked many a stupider person. This suggests that Jane has courted men before, but they have either been lacking in character or in money, so she has not pursued their affections. In chapter four following the commencement ceremony ball a conversation between Jane and Elizabeth Bennet takes place. rather than mentioning Bingleys fortune, Jane states that she admirers him due to his being sensible, good humoured, lively and states that she has never seen such happy manners.Throughout the book Jane is described positively, which influences the reader to think super of her and views on marrying for love as just.Elizabeth, too, is presented as sensible and likeable. Though she mentions that the moment she fell in love with Mr. Darcy was after first seeing his beautiful chiliad at Pemberley, she also mentions that she fell in love with him gradually, ensuring that his wealth was not the only factor taken in to account as she accepted his certify proposal of marriage. Her primary interest seems to be in marrying for love, as she turned down a proposal from Mr. collins which would have ensured her money, a home and a good reputation. With all of this taken into account, Eliza refuses due to Mr. Collins personality and the fact that she does not love him.In chapter nineteen Mr. Collins another ridiculed character makes his first proposal to Elizabeth. He makes it clear that he only makes the proposal due to Catherine DeBurghs advice. He also thinks it may benefit his happ iness, though mentions nothing of hers. a great deal of the proposal is an insult to Miss Bennet as he retells Lady Catherines exact words (let her be an active, useful person, not brought up too high). Mr. Collins obviously does not love Elizabeth, nor is he pretending so. He seems to think that, due to the fact that he has good connections, Elizabeth would parachuting at the chance of marrying him. She refuses politely, yet Mr. Collins cannot see why she would refuse his offer. He is a prime example of someone who doesnt think love is a necessity for a successful marriage. He sees his proposal as an honourable gesture as a way to compensate the Bennet family for the fact that he shall inherit the house upon Mr. Bennets death, but somewhat selfishly to better his own status and comfort.Soon after this, as Mr. Collins retreats with a slightly bruised ego, we learn that Miss Charlotte Lucas, a close athletic supporter of the Bennets, has accepted another proposal from Collins, pre sumably one of the same type. After Elizabeth confronts her on the news of their engagement Charlotte justifies her thoughts with the following I am not romantic I ask only a comfortable home connections, and situation in life, I am convinced my chance of happiness with him is fair, as most people can boast on entering the marriage state. This, as well as her earlier comment relating to Jane fixing Mr. Bingley (almost as though discussing an animal, or assuming Bingley is broken due to his being un married).Perhaps Charlotte only seeks the above, or perhaps she is worried to the highest degree what her peers would say about her being unmarried at such an age. In this period in time, women were talked about if unmarried in their late twenties.Someone with an opposite view to Charlotte is Caroline Bingley. Where the Bennet sisters and Charlotte Lucas aim to marry high and ensure their financial security, Caroline seems to scorn them for wishing to do so. She disapproves of Jane and h er familiars relationship, which can be gathered from her trying to keep the fact that Jane was in London at the same time as her brother a secret. She seems convinced that her friends marrying anyone of a lower rank would be shameful, and that anyone wishing to marry her brother of Mr. Darcy must be after their money. While chasing the hope of gaining a desirable social status and money, Caroline Bingley may well forget about love and, even if it ever came along, may well suppress it in hopes of something better. The issue of indipendence may also be one that Miss Bingley considers. She lives with her brother and has to up and leave when he does so. The security and indipendence a marriage would sum up is surely something she would have looked forward to.Her friend, Mr. Darcy, is well aware of womens attitudes at the time. He even goes as far as to warn his best friend against Jane Bennet, as he fears that she doesnt love Bingley as is only showing an interest in him for his wealt h. This cynical attitude may have grown due to his pride and perhaps the effect of spending too much time with Charles Bingleys sisters. This seems evermore the case when listening to the piano at Netherfield he thinks to himself that it may become dangerous to pay too much attention to Lizzy. He makes it clear that he regards her of a lower class in his refused proposal (He spoke well, but there were feelings besides those of the heart to be detailed His sense of her inferiority of its being a degradation of the family obstacles.) and is obviously concerned about other peoples opinions.Despite the fact that the story ends happily and both Elizabeth and Jane marry for love, the underlying theme of the novel is, predictably, pride and prejudice. Lydia, though overeager to marry Wickham for love, runs the risk of being ostracised due to her living with him outside of wedlock. This, in turn, would ruin the reputation of her sisters. Despite being in love, would Darcy and Bingley want to get married to the siblings of a disgraced woman? If Darcy had not have been able to persuade Wickham to marry Lydia, would he in turn have abandoned Elizabeth?Though Austen potently hints that she approves of marrying for love rather than money (through satirising some characters and not others), it is clear that reputation and etiquette were still as important, if not more important than love in ones marriage.

Oxalate ION Essay

The dissociation of protons from oxalic acid proceeds in a stepwise means as for other polyprotic acids. Loss of a single proton results in the monovalent hydrogenoxalate anion HC2O4. A salt with this anion is sometimes called an acid oxalate, monobasic oxalate, or hydrogen oxalate. The equilibrium changeless (Ka) for loss of the first proton is 5.37102 (pKa = 1.27). The loss of the second proton, which yields the oxalate ion has an equilibrium constant of 5.25105 (pKa = 4.28). These values imply that, in solutions with neutral pH, in that location is no oxalic acid, and only trace amounts of hydrogen oxalate.1The literature is often unclear on the distinction between H2C2O4, HC2O4-, and C2O42-, and the collection of species is referred to oxalic acid. otany patnawomenscollege.in/journal Explore, 2010, Page No. 6367 Vol. II No. 2 Analysis of oxalate of fresh and stored tomato juice Devshikha*, Nitya Priyadarshi*, Sukriti Rani Prasad** *B.Sc. Historical Evaluation of the Book Survival in Auschwitz Essay

When Hitler began his career as a politician, he was always obsessed of eliminating the Jews in Germany. This elimination did non necessarily mean extermination of the said race, still nevertheless would involve too much savagery and cruelty. In 1930, Hitler became chancellor of Germany, a post he held until 1932, and began instituting anti- Judaic legislations. Jews were not permitted to hold any government office. They were also barred from using public utilities and services, and worst, their citizenship was cancelled. When Hitler became dictator in 1933, he issued several orders to army and police units to generate the construction of concentration camps to hold prisoners. Many prisoners were transferred to these concentration camps. It was reported that they experienced torture and unwarranted murder. When the war broke, concentration camps were filled with Jews. Originally, the plan was to ship the Jews to Madagascar, a French colony (since Germany already defeated France dur ing the war). 1 Because of lack of transport ships, Jews were forcibly transferred to the east where several concentration camps were being built. The trip to these concentration camps were not pleasurably more accurately horrible. Jews were sealed in the trains. For six days, the Jews had to suffer the lack of water and food, and poor ventilation dodging. There was no toilet in the cargo section of the train. Escape was impossible since German soldiers are guarding every section of the train. Jews caught jumping off the train were shot. Worse, the section where the said Jews escaped would scram to be liquidated. This was the policy of the German military at that time. Contents of Levis BookThe book is essentially divided into 18 parts, organized into three themes (journey, manner in the concentration camp, and war survival). 2 These are the chapters of Levis 1) The Journey, 2) On the Bottom, 3) Initiation, 4) Ka-Be, 5) Our Nights, 6) The Work, 7) A Good Day, 8) This Side of Good and Evil, 9) The Drowned and the Saved, 10) Chemical Examination, 11) The Canto of Ulysses, 12) The Events of the Summer, 13) October 1944, 14) Kraus, 15) Die drie Leute vom Labor, 16) The Last One, 17) The level of Ten Days, and 18) A Conversation with Primo Levi. Each of these chapters reveals the factual events that occurred during the deportation of Jews to the Auschwitz concentration camp. The first chapter deals on the capture of Levi by Italian Fascists on celestial latitude 13, 1943. Although he supported Mussolini during his yearly years in power, he was considered an enemy of the Italian Fascist army because of his Jewish leanings. When he fled to the mountains during the early course of the war, he was left with nothing but a couple of personal effects a pair of shoes, a small firearm, and a bag of canned goods. When he was captured, he was immediately sent to the SS camp in Northern Italy. The next chapters deal on the life of Levi on the concentration camp. At the end o f January 1944, he was sent to the Auschwitz concentration camp along with 150 Italian Jews. At their first arrival, several Jews were shot on the orders of the camp commandant. The reasons for the shooting were never make clear by the chief sergeant of the work cells, but during the next days shooting of prisoners became a common sight. The visit of the German doctors to the concentration camp, fit to Levi, was initially welcomed by the Jewish prisoners in the belief that medicines would be distributed in the camp. It turned out that the doctors were invited by the camp commandant to take blood samples from selected Jews. These Jews would be transported back to Germany as part of an experiment. In October 1944, the Auschwitz camp commandant issued an order to liquidate some of the populous sections of the ghetto. Families became worried as German soldiers indiscriminately subject fire to women, children, and the old.Men of adult age were immediately shot. One of the families, acco rding to Levi, was praying in unison when an SS unit came and shot them. Some pleaded to German soldiers to spare the lives of children, but to no avail. The SS was instructed by the commandant to shot all Jews found in the selected section of the camp. Those who will ignore the order will be immediately shot. look in the Concentration Camp (Levis Account of Auschwitz) Levis book fits well to historical documents proving the atrocities committed by the Nazis to the Jews during the Second World War.His accounts of Auschwitz were invariably a supplementary record of war trials and criminal investigations of the Jewish High Tribunal. 3 His accounts however were highly accurate and devoid of emotions. It was as if the book was a photographed var. of reality. Every prisoner in Auschwitz was supposed to work at least 16 hours a day. Not to do so would mean torture and with huge probability death. Children were separated from the old. The old were machine gunned in a nearby SS camp. Th e children were sent to the special treatment house in Germany or in German-occupied territories to be gassed.Able-bodied men and women were employed as laborers, taking many different jobs a day. Those who were disabled were automatically shot. It was even noted that no prisoner would withstand in Auschwitz for even four weeks. It was the policy of the Germans to polish all the Jews transported after a month. This would make liquidation and transport more efficient. After the last clasp was killed, a new batch would be sent to the camp to be killed. Added to that, any German caught of fraternizing with the Jews would suffer the penalty of death. This policy was in accord with Nazi philosophy which requires every German to discriminate the Jews, take their properties, and possibly their lives (it was even noted that during Hitlers time, crimes against Jews were relaxed. The courts were ordered by the Fuhrer not to proceed with crimes against the Jews, because they were not German citizens and should not be accorded with the rights and privileges of a German citizen). Sleeping was not also allowed. Anyone caught would be instantly killed. When anyone begged for mercy, the SS would take the pleasure of torturing him/her. 4 Killing would be the finale.Sometimes, a thousand people were killed in a day. In Auschwitz alone, an estimated 1. 5 million Jews were killed during the duration of the war. These killings were done sometimes for sanitary purposes, sometimes for recreation, sometimes for the dispirited order of the camp commandant. The Jews were provided with food periodically by the SS. The distributed supplies of food were however insufficient to augment the prisoners labor nutrient requirements in the concentration camp. Many times, Jews were not given food because there was either a scarcity of such or by the order of the camp commandant. It was also the policy of the Nazis to starve the Jewish race and to let them die in shame and pain. It was of no dou bt that everyday many Jews in the camp die because of malnourishment and hunger. Clothing was not provided by the SS the Jews were left on their own. They were ordered to bring their best clothing to the concentration camp, along with their personal effects. Their houses in the cities would be turned over to the German state. 5 Household equipments would countenance to be abandoned. There would be no room in the concentration camp for such luxuries. The German police certified them that their properties would be left unharmed. Such assurances were never made factual, for the Germans considered Jewish property as their own, in compensation of the Jewish traitorous activities during the First World War. The conditions of the Jews became more and more horrible as the war progressed. A new technology was invented by a corporal in the German army which can kill 10, 000 Russian prisoners in the Eastern Front. The so-called gas chambers were utilized to kill at least 20, 000 Jews a day pe r concentration camp. The efficiency of this saucily discovered method eventually stimulated other SS commandants to adopt such method of execution. The Final Solution of the Jewish Question was almost solved have not Germany faced the situation of unconditional surrender. Levy made this assertion when he was invited as a witness in the Nuremberg trials. Conclusion The book write by Primo Levi, a Jew with a doctorate in chemistry was full of details portraying the poor conditions of the Jews under the Nazi regime. 6 These miserable conditions, however, were not far removed from the obsession of the Nazis of their inherent superior qualities. The persecutions of the Jews during the Second World War were rooted in the deep hatred of the Germans to the Jews, of which was transformed into distinction. This discrimination in due time was also transformed into political policies which highlighted the vagrant actions of the Germans against the Jews. The establishment of concentration camp s, sufferings of the Jews in the concentration camps, and the desire of the Jews to be liberated from this system were historical facts, located in a milieu of social hatred and discrimination, imbibed in Hitlers philosophy.

All of these book of us strong warnings of the possibilitys that our world could sir come to, if we dont treat things with near c be the some mistakes made in the past could be made in the future, and that the world should not be shaped to only be benefited by a single man or company This book is all a totalitarian society. The author of the book is George Orwell, published in 1949, which back whence made this books time zone was about the future. This is a story were the world is all controlled by 1 party. This party sets a lot of demands that the society has to retrace day by day or they will be punished. In this story, there is a guy named Winston who is a part of the party whom is making all the rules and restraint for the society to follow. All of a fast Winston does n ot want to be a part of the party and starts to give warning to people that there is too much government control and starts to warn people about the danger of living in a totalitarian society. The warnings from this story talk about how the government in the real world are in control of all of us and the fear is that one day they will take privilege of the power and start to make strict restriction just like how the party did in the book. In the book Harrison Bergeron tells a completely different version to 1984 instead of a world of a shogunate society itis in a world where they make everyone equal and compared to the normal world where if you are different to the normal way we live you are silenced, scarce everyone is given handicaps in order to be equal. His parents one who is handicapped because of his intelligence are watching and he is on TV trying to inspire a revolution over against handicapping the gifted, he is then latter shot on TV but his parents are to handicapped to of noticed what had happened. Anyone who has. This has warnings of socials engineering, society being dumbed down in order to be equal and warning about being difference being seen as a bad thing. The calorie man is set in the future were resources have dried up and scientist a genetically making food in the New Orleans, The author Paolo Bicigalupi and warns us of the effects that can happen of corporations having control over food sources and genetic engineering and the corporate control This book offers us warnings against failing to act on climate change, the risk of corporations magisterial public life, and the risks of using genetic engineering to solve food problems, the possibility of terminator seeds becoming a reality. That could happen, He wants to give us a warning of intrusting too much to science and not doing anything to save and fix the environmental issues we face today. Story is about Lalji a smuggler who agrees to take a subscriber line ferrying a geneticist out o f the calorie companys lands and bringing him to New Orleans. Its discovered that he has the ability to reintroduce fertility into crops again to break the control of the calorie companies. The purpose of dystopian fiction is to give us warnings and tell us the possibilitys to what could happen under a totalitarian society and it tells us that we should have our own rights and everybody should be equal, The point of 1984 was to tell us the consequences of what happens in a dystopian world and under totalitarian society and government.

Fashion and Gender Essay

In the western culture, bearing has affected and reflected the distinctions between the social and economic status of men and women throughout the years. From the 19th century on, grammatical gender, social understanding of femininity and masculinity, became clearer and more precise. They were distinctive through sort and clothing and were an important aspect in distinguishing roles of men and women. However, dislodges in fashion go out blur as much as tensenesse the differences between gender, evolving in parallel borrowing from adept an otherwise. Thus, as the constant changes in fashion, the level of differences between men and women varied very so often. musical mode was influencing and defining gender role and gender lifestyle was influencing fashion. Masculine men and feminine women The first signs of gender distinctions appeared at the arising of the 19th century following the French Revolution. In addition to separating social classes, fashion now established a cle ar division between male and womanish clothing. workforce were no longish powdered or perfumed and they got rid of ornaments and wigs, now signifies of femininity.Their clothing was characterized by a curb use of material, tailored construction, simplified set of surface, resemblingity, net and spotless(prenominal) garments, perfect hats and limited color (29 January). concord to the trickle-down effect, fashion trends were still created by the propertiedes and were followed by others down the scale (05 February). Then, according to Georg Simmel, two types of males emerged from the middle-class. Dandies were followers of the untenanted class and never went against a incident fashion dress code while bohemian were rejecting fashion (05 February).Men of the upper-class are characterized as a Flaneur by Walter Benjamin Empathy is the nature of the intoxication to which the flaneur abandons himself (05 February). The upper-class still needed to follow three rules in order to s tay on top and documentation the middle-class from rising the expensive textile, the lack of movement inflicted by the garment and the novelty of the ensemble (05 February). They conformed to a conspicuous lifestyle with their absence of labour and function in the society, only still in a more subtle way than women in terms of dress (29 January).Indeed, women became a physical display representing the maintains wealth through fashion, assuring their social rank in the leisure class the innovative aristocrats. Important gatherings such as the Grand Prix de Paris were a place where one went to the races, as to the theater, part to look over the women and their apparel (Hebert, 24). They would wear multiple colors, dresses with pouf skirts, light fabrics, beading and flower ornaments, parasols and other accessories. Women were placed in the forefront with fashion and devoid of any role or force out. the adornment of both the female person and her environment was an expression o f womens inferior economic power and her social status as a mans chattel (Veblen, 91). Unattached and unmarried women were overly expected to dressed respectfully and fashionably for the dignity of her family and for future husbands. Lower-level women such as actresses and prostitutes, who were mingling with the upper-class, wore more revealing clothes but still in fashion. Women were thought of as irrational and sensible creatures who adhered to fashion by weakness, to make water a sense of belonging.During the 19th century and early 20th century, there is a clear distinction between man and woman fashion. It is reflected in their clothes and in their social status and role in the society. sexual practice was easily identifiable with the shape formed by the garment. While men wear clean cut, weighty and solid suits, holding all the power, the women dress in soft, elaborate and colourful dresses, trophies to the men. ? Fashion upside-down With the start of the realness War I, w omen were now helping out and filling more manful jobs. Roles were no longer clearly defined according to hysical characteristics. Because while war work forced women to life in juvenile social and physical environments, they had to adapt their clothing to unfamiliar activities and spaces (Matthews David, 101). New technology and new combat techniques meant also a change in menswear. Soldiers had to wear uniforms that hid their male forms to allow movement. They replaced their flat and boxy hats with a more feminine and round one with leaves and flowers to hide in the trenches. A definite outline, a traditionally masculine attribute, proved a deadly handicap in battle (Matthews David, 97).Upper-class men were traditionally sibyllic to show their status through clothing. The advent of the war blurred distinctions between classes as both had to come in in the war effort. Men were no longer useless and ineffective in the society, with meant a infallible change in fashion. Restric tions in luxury fabrics, such as silk, fur and ornaments, forced a revolution of mens masculine and luxurious attire. All men were now wearing jersey fabric clothing, darker earth colours and softer silhouettes. In the early 20th century, there was a eminent need for change in fashion. While men were adopting feminine fashion to survive during the war, women started borrowing the simplified and linear masculine silhouette. The flip side of this feminization of the sniper was the much more generalized masculinization of womens civilian and uniform dress during the war (Matthews David, 101). They started wearing suits with sober colours to adapt to their more energetic lifestyle in the warfare. The latter was the start of a changing role in society for women. Before this change, women had no power on fashion or society. They were now needed for labour and they showed to be very efficient. This allowed women to make decisions and have a definite role society. By adopting the masculine look, they gained power. They were no longer considered as an accessory to men. The exchanges of particular characteristics of gender made the distinctions and the differences more blurry. The World War I was a turning point in fashion for both men and women. Shortages of materials transformed clothing new fabrics emerged, new silhouettes using less fabrics, less ornaments, leaner cuts, suits for women and softer clothes for men. Women were now looking more or less like men with the square off suits and linear dresses, requisitioning their roles as women as though the clothes itself hold the power. While men were still the dominating figure, women were revising their position in the public and private sphere. ? Conclusion To conclude, gender is a social intelligence of masculinity and femininity. Through the 19th and 20th century, both men and women were affected by fashion gender leading the distinctions.Sexes were defined by gender in the 19th century with the specific trends o f clothing for each. Men were wearing clean and linear cuts, showing their boxy figures, while women wore elaborate and frivolous clothes foreground their silhouette. Roles were also clearly different according to gender. Men held all the power and women served of accessories, displaying the husbands wealth. The World War I acted as a turning point for men and women. Both were transforming their fashion because of their active lifestyle by adopting each others gender characteristics of fashion.Men softened their figures while women started wearing masculine suits. sex differences became were blurred and roles redefined women gained power and all men got functional for the society. Hence, the level of distinction between gender is in constant change. Fashion influences gender roles and gender lifestyle influences fashion. The latter blurs, blends as well as emphasis the social perceptions of what a men and a women is and looks like. Gender continues to affect and reflect distinctio ns between sexes, both unendingly borrowing and exchanging from one another.

Feasibility Study of Online Shopping Essay

TechnicalThe Online Shopping Via SMS Computer Parts and Accessories is a rude(a) give birth that we are proposing to the Armenias meshwork Caf. Since we are offering that the ready reckoner part and accessories of the Armenias meshing Caf entrust be online, they are required to pay back a PC (admin) with an Internet connection and a database trunk for the products and customers tuition. Through the Internet, they impart also be required to have a website with a domain name itself. The PC (admin) and the domain name al sensation, of course, require some sort of financial support. If those two requirements would be agnise, then a new website is to be built with interface selling the computer move and accessories that is now online. It provides an interface for the drug dropr (customer) registration and fills up each(prenominal) the information needed. The mobile surround come in is also needed to be fills up. All of that data depart then be going to the PC (admin). S o if they will be visiting the site again, they would have just to log in and would non be registering anymore. Its up to the drillr (customer) if he had selected an item. He would be clicking the interface with the buy simplyton. intercommunicate the admin that someone is willing to buy that item. By that, a transaction between the customer and the admin will begin. The user (customer) will have a down payment of 20%, since cash will be apt(p) upon the delivery of materials so that thither will be no fraud between the customer and the admin would arise. proceeding will now go to the payment as well as the shipping process. The customer will have his money be deposited in the Armenias bank account or through ML Kwarta Padala provided that the item selected is also delivered by the Armenia through LBC. If the destination or customers address is near, perchance a soul will be in charge for that matter. Through the transaction, the latter should be realized introducing now our n ew feature we offered, and that is the mobile phone. The modify of the items selected and the transaction process as well, is through the use of mobile phone especially if the user (customer) is now not online. The admin female genitals still communicate him via SMS. If all of that would be realized, a benefit of the user (customer) would be met. As well as the benefit of the Armenias Internet Caf would be great since their production would increase and the high-technology we have, as of this moment had been used. Therefore, our system is technically possible. pecuniaryThis system is very affordable for theres no materials needed. It only uses a computer with an Internet connection and you must have your own website for you to publish to the world the items purchased. To have a website, you must have a domain name first, and in that sense it is then very affordable. It is not even trinity of your income if you have it. Also the mobile phone as of this moment is also cheap but in that matter its the customers responsibility.OrganizationalSince the Armenia is an Internet Cafe, so theres no need to have persons to saying over the products. All they will provide is the person who isresponsible for the website to look over if anyone had gone to login and have their items selected and to look over the database for the updates of the products on hand and sold out. Even one or two persons will do. But of course theres also a person be responsible to deliver the items selected. As of this present time, Armenias Internet Cafe only has a manual way of counting their products. By that, it takes a longer time and a tiring daytime to have it all done. But with our new system, all the disadvantages of the latter will be vanished with the use of our new system. Since we will be using our high-technology, like the use of computer together with the power of Internet positivist the mobile phone is a very great tandem that this proposed system that we had will then be possib le.EthicalOur new system is very possible in technical matter, is very financially affordable, organizationally feasible and most especially ethically acceptable to everybody. As we all know that as of now, there are so many websites that have an online shopping, but the new feature we offered is the use of mobile phone. The users (customer) will have an update for the items selected. Even if they are not accessing the website, still they have the way to get the information of the items they want. Online shopping also offers a vast price and item selection. You can have a cheaper but durable material with your own taste and standards. data and reviews as well convenience is possible with the use of online shopping. Also the customers are fond of shopping directly through retailers. In the same way, a legal age of consumers choose online shopping for faster and more efficacious shopping experience. Therefore, our system is ethically acceptable not only in our society but perhaps to the whole world.I. Executive SummaryThis feasibility reflect of Online Shopping via SMS Computer Parts and Accessories to be proposed to Armenias Internet Cafe were performed by Mirasol Rosquites and Jay Alba, Information Technology students. It involves questions such as whether they can afford the technical, financial, organizational and ethical aspect of the system. It also contains the inescapably to analyze the problems and the solutions of this proposed system.II. IntroductionThe purpose of this study is to help our valued customers to have a fast and efficient way of buying computer parts and accessories. As we all know that we are now in the world where high technologies evolve, so in accordance to that idea, our system will help everybody to access a direct buying of items over the net and provide them an update of the items they have chosen, through cell phone.Everybody can access it especially those persons who have the hard time of going outside their houses just to bu y the computer parts and accessories they need. Aristotle Life Story

Aristotle was born in Greece approximately 384 B. C. , to parents Nicomachus and Phaestis. His forefather Nicomachus was physician to King Amyntas of Macedon, and his m another(prenominal) was of a wealthy family from the island of Euboea. When he was 17 he went to study at Platos Academy in Athens, where he stayed for around 20 years. Aristotle did very well at the Academy, yet when Plato died he was not chosen to be among the leaders. Soon after Platos death he leftover to tutor Prince Alexander, later to be kn proclaim as Alexander the Great. Aristotle later returned to Athens to open his own school which is known as the Lyceum.Aristotle was more interested in science than other philosophers in his time, possibly because his father was a doctor. Hes sometimes referred to the father of science. One of Aristotles most most-valuable parts was sorting and classifying the various knowledge of science into branches. He thus laid the foundation of science today. Aristotle is alike thought to be the father of the scientific method. In ancient times, gods were thought to be the cause of events in nature. Early Greek philosophers questioned the roles of gods as the cause of these events. If the gods werent the cause of these events, who was?Philosophers advanced explanations based on philosophical principles and mathematical forms. Aristotle found that unsatisfactory. He was the first to realize the importance of empirical quantity (measurement based on observation and experience), believing that knowledge could only be gained from building on what was already known. Aristotles contributions were measurement and observation, which is what science, is built upon. He was the first to propose the idea of induction as a tool to gaining knowledge, and understand that theoretical thought and reasoning had to be supported by real world move upings. His method is summarized as follows Study what others put one across written ab come to the fore the subject, look for the general consensus about the subject, and fare a regular study of everything even take leaveially related to the topic. This is the very first sign of a scientific method. Aristotle crawl in categorizing and organizing things. For instance, with the soul he thought it was composed of both components a rational and irrational part. The rational half(a) was subdivided into scientific and calculative sections, and the irrational half was make up of a desiderative (desire) part and a vegetal part.A person operates by combining all the workings of these parts. The vegetative part may be hungry. The desiderative part may want lots of candy instead of, say, vegetables, but the scientific part knows candy lead be bad for teeth and weight. The calculative part will then try to work out a compromise. Problem solved Aristotle assumed that there must be some basic commodities that blend in to mystify all things. These basic four themes are, earth, water, air and fire, and each of these are a combination of two of four opposites, hot and cold, and wet and dry.For example, fire is hot and dry. He claimed that all materials were made from various combinations of these elements. His love of categories also led him to divide people into three groups. The big group, who loved pleasure, a smaller group -includes politicians- that love honor, and the smallest, but most elite group, who love contemplation. The latter were the philosophers. Aristotles next task was to find the key reason that separated humans from animals. His answer was our ability to reason. Aristotles really great contribution was that of biology.Having established the division between humans and animals he set out categorizing all he could of the biologic world. He grouped animals with related characteristics into genera and then divided these genera into species. This same process is used today, though consequent research has caused some of the individuals to be moved around. He wrote in detail about five deoxycytidine monophosphate different animals in his works, including a hundred and twenty kinds of fish and sixty kinds of insect. He was the first to perform dissections on living things, so he could try to make sense of how they worked. He described how a chick develops within an egg and realized that dolphins and whales were different from fish. He noted that ruminant animals, like cows, had multi-chambered stomachs, something that separated them from simple-stomached animals. non only did he study large animals, but small ones as well, such as bees. He also made lead way in botany. He attempted to classify over vitamin D plants into trees, shrubs, and herbs and, while he was not entirely successful in this, he certainly understood which features of plants were undeniable for making distinctions. This time he has earned the title of father over botany. Aristotle made many other contributions to science, one of which was proving the Earth was a sphere, although he wrongly thought that Earth was the pump of the universe. Plato disagreed with this theory he sided with Copernicus who rightly thought the sun was the center of the universe. Aristotle also studied physics. He did not have many tools for experimentation so he could not measure time or speed. He did not stop for invisible forces, so he did not study gravity. Things fell to Earth and the moon circled the earth because thats what they did.In spite of his limitations, Aristotle made some remarkable contributions to physics and laid the groundwork for Galileo, Newton, and Einstein. He reasoned that measureless velocities could not exist, that time and movement are continuous and inseparable, and that time was even flowing, infinite, and the same everywhere at once. These are all true, and are part of Einsteins Theory of Relativity. Thats amazing considering the limitations he had to work with. Anti-Macedonian feeling broke out in Athens around 323 BC. The Athenians accused Aristotle o f irreverence. He chose to flee, so that the Athenians cogency not twice sin against philosophy (by killing him as they had Socrates). He fled to Chalcis on the island of Euboea. Aristotle died in 322 BC. After he died a lot of his work and research was lost. It is thought that today we only have about 1/3 of what he had originally written. Aristotle was an amazing scientist, but even he was not without mistakes. For example, he wrongly assumed that force is required to keep an object moving at aeonian speed. This error held progress back for years. He also, as I stated before, thought the Earth was the center of the universe. But, really isnt that what science is about? Trial and error, make mistakes then learn from them, thats how you make real progress in science. Aristotle is proof of this. Look at all the progress we have made today, from his mistakes. Kilauea Volcano

hardened in the Pacific Ocean, Hawaii and the Hawaiian Islands argon the cone-shaped tops of gigantic ocean volcanoes. primed(p) in the southeast region of the Island of Hawaii, Kilauea sits on the flank (or the side) of the dynamical Mauna Loa volcano, and is one of five shield volcanoes that together form the Island of Hawaii. Kilauea is one of the most active volcanoes on Earth, and it is the youngest. Kilauea stands just under 4,200 feet tall above sea level at its highest point. The staff of the U. S. Geological Survey at the Hawaiian Volcano Observatory before long lists Kilaueas Volcano Alert Level as watchand its Aviation Color Code as orange. Kilauea is studied and constantly monitored because of its continuous lava flow. Kilauea is a broad shield volcano which is a gently tilt mountain made from a large number of usually very fluid lava flows. It is also locally interbedded with deposits of explosive eruptions.Eruptions at Kilauea happen mainly either from the pinn acle caldera or along either of ii long rift zones ( eastbound and Southwest) that extend from the caldera and run approximately parallel to the coastline and extend to the sea on both sides. Rift zones atomic number 18 fractured zones of weakness indoors the volcano. The Southwest rift zone is very active and has a desert effect. The crater located at this rift is called Puu Oo the East rift zone is called the Kupaianaha crater. Steam and sulfur expresss can be seen and smelt in different areas on Kilauea. The muster of Kilauea is roughly 90% lava flow less than 1,100 long time old, and 70% of the surface is younger than 600 years. The Kilauea visor caldera is about two miles wide and more than three miles long. A caldera is the actual caving in of the top of the mountain. The summit caldera houses the crater. The high summit of Kilauea is caused by more frequent eruptions than other locations on the volcano. The crater is the main vent inside the caldera, the opening through which lava flows. Eruptions from Kilauea are known for creating volcanic smog (vog). This smog affects numerous areas of the Hawaiian Islands, including Oahu and Honolulu whenever winds come out of the south or southeast. The estimated age of the earliest above ground (subaerial) eruptions of Kilauea is among 50,000-100,000 years. The last eruption began on January 3, 1983 to the present. During this time, the lava flows have unfortunately caused destruction of nearly 200 houses, resurfaced over 13km of main road with lava, destroyed the National Park visitor center, and a 700 year-old Hawaiian Temple. It has also added new coastline to the island. There are no signs that the current eruption is slowing or will end anytime soon. Kilauea has little vegetation. Kilauea has the volcano term of Historical. Kilauea has had 61 historical eruptions, not counting the continuous lava-lake activity in the crater. The oldest dated rocks from Kilauea are 23,000 years old. The Island of Hawai i sits on (almost in the middle of) the Pacific plate. The Pacific Plate is a giant saber saw piece of the Earths crust that is slowly moving in a northwesterly direction. It moves about four inches a year. There is a basically stationary hot spot deep within the Earths mantle. Heat from this hot spot makes molten lava and rock (magma) that rises through the Pacific Plate and erupts continuously on the ocean floor. After thousands of eruptions and over many many years, an island forms a rocky galvanic pile above sea level. It is estimated that Kilauea began to form about 300,000-600,000 years ago, and has been active ever since. Kilauea rose above the surface of the sea as an island approximately 50,000-100,000 years ago.Through geologic studies of surface exposures and drillhole samples, it is known that Kilauea is made in general of lava flows. Research over the past few decades shows that Kilauea has its own magma-plumbing system, extending to the surface from more than 60km d eep in the Earth. On an average day, Kilauea puts out several hundred thousand cubic yards of lava. It also causes frequent earthquakes, but many of them are small enough that only a few people feel them.In Hawaiian the word Kilauea means spewing or much spreading, referring to the continuous lava flow. Kilauea is the home of Pele, the Hawaiian fire and volcano goddess. Several special lava formations are named after Pele. Peles Tears are small droplets of lava that cool in the air and keep their teardrop shapes. They are jet black in color. Peles Hair are thin, brittle strands of volcanic glass that often form during the explosions that occur with a lava flow, usually from lava fountains.Kilauea Crater is per centum of the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Kilauea is the Earths most visited active volcano. Unlike most other active volcanoes, Kilauea is approachable, is world-famous, and has been called the drive-up volcano because of the easy access to many of its areas of volcanic activity, especially the summit caldera. I wanted my landform to be in the USA I chose Kilauea because it is in Hawaii, and one of the most active volcanoes in the world. I prospect it would be cool to research.
